The Kuaotunu Emergency Response Team is in the process of planning their Evacuation Response, should this be needed over the next few days.

The Kuaotunu Hall is being set up with some resources and supplies should anyone need urgent housing. Some kind people have also offered accommodation should this be required.

The Emergency Response Team will advise the community on Facebook if the Hall is needed and opens for urgent accommodation. This information will also be posted on the home page of this website.

If you are needing sand bags, the Kuaotunu Fire Station is currently open and can supply you. If the station is closed, please access bags which will be left on the porch.

The Emergency Response Team is encouraging everyone to have a evacuation plan in place, including a grab bag with any items you need. Include medication, sleeping bags, clothes, toiletries, batteries, radio, food, torches, phones/charges etc. See the following link for further information and guidance: https://getready.govt.nz/.

If you need any support to help you plan, or need to communicate with the Emergency Response team, please contact Jannine Verner on 0225006775. Alternatively, the team will be located (at times) at the Happy Local Hub in Kuaotunu Village.

We are all hoping this plan will not need to be activated, but wanting to provide our community reassurance that should if needed, the Emergency Response Team is here and ready to respond.

Please stay safe, be prepared and keep informed.
